Hey there!

So, another big piece of my life puzzle that I have been trying to sort out and fix is all the adulty stuff that needs done, especially around my apartment. It had gotten to a point where I was just so completely overwhelmed, and there were just so many things to do and tackle that I didn't know where to start.

Part of my conversation with my counselor yesterday was the realization that I only have a certain amount of spoons (see spoon theory) and I would get ADHD paralysis not knowing how to best distribute my few spoons a day.

What I ended up doing was writing out all the days of the week first. Then I made lists of all the rooms I needed to take care of things in, and the things that needed done in each.

For example; in the family room I had to clean off my coffee table, sweep the floor, organize my craft stuff that is out. In the kitchen I need to sweep, put away dishes from dishwasher, reload dishwasher, clean counters. And so on for all the things I needed to get done. Then I started adding one or so a day to get done on my week list.

After that first week I started using a planner that I also have all my things for my masters degree that I need to get done so I can see it all together.

Though yes, I know that partly used planners are a common item for ADHD-ers. But I'm hoping that by the time I probably forget to continue using it, I will have established a normalcy of getting these things done every week, a bit most days, instead of it all stacking up and seeming unsurmountable.

I did the same thing with my fitness goals, putting in the morning or after work a couple times a week. And making the days I work out more days I maybe do fewer things around the house, and vice versa. I'm still not great at getting ALL of what I want done.

At least something is better than nothing. I'm still making small strides, and being better, and that's all I can do is keep making more and more small improvements. Go self!!
